Marianna had to say...

I'm a high school teacher of French and Modern Greek, and speak 7 languages.  If you have books in French, let me know!  I am a voracious reader of .....EVERYTHING!!!!!!  Wish there were more hours in the day..... I usually have lots of interesting books to trade, so check out my bookshelf.

I also am interested in books on the German Occupation of France during the Dark Years (1942-44) and any Holocaust fiction from World War II.  I have many titles on my wish list.  If you are interested I recommend to you: Sarah's Key, by Tatiana de Rosnay (entitled Elle s'appelait Sarah in  French) about the Vel d'Hiv roundup in France on July 16th, 1942.  I am keeping both my copies of this work (French and English) for now.  I just saw that Sarah's Key has been released in paperback- this is a great book....read it!

What I'm reading this week

I finally started the 7th Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  I read a chapter here and there while I am reading other things.  I am reading How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls, by Zoey Dean- so far it is hilarious.  I wanted to finish it before the new tv series, Privileged, starts, since it is based on this book.  Since the main character and I both went to Yale, I can relate.  I'm also reading Zits Sketchbook #1, as I am starting a Zits collection.  As a high school teacher, I can really relate to Jeremy's high school angst.  For my Holocaust studies, I am also reading Évadé du Vél' D'Hiv by Gabriel Wachman and Daniel Goldenberg, about Gabriel's escape from the  Vélodrome d'Hiver roundup in France on July 16, 1942, where 13,000 French Jews were rounded up by French police, acting for the Gestapo, and sent to concentration camps in France (Drancy then on to Auschwitz).
